Ritigreat Foundation initiated a menstrual hygiene programme for women and girls who were displaced from their homes in North East Nigeria by Boko Haram, to settle in Internally Displaced Persons camp in Kuchingoro Abuja. These women and girls do not have a source of livelihood; hence can barely feed themselves and their families, talk of buying sanitary pads. We educated 200 women and girls on proper menstruation management using alternative cloth materials that are washable and reusable, which they can use during their menstruation. We also distributed 204 sanitary pad and hygiene kits to the women and girls to enable them manage their menstrual hygiene instead of using tissue papers as they told us in our interview.
